It is a short but busy week at Birchmount, and we have a few important updates and reminders to share:
Playground Safety Reminder
Now that the school year is off to a fantastic start, we would like to remind families that school grounds are for staff and students only. When you drop off your Bear after 8:10 AM, please do a quick Kiss and Goodbye at the gate. We cannot have non-staff on the playground, as it is difficult for the teacher on duty to identify family members from strangers. This is an important safety issue, and we thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Orange Shirt Day – Monday, September 29
On Monday, students will participate in our Orange Shirt Day assembly and then complete our annual Every Child Matters Walk. This is an important day to honour Truth and Reconciliation in New Brunswick. We would love to see as many orange shirts as possible to show our support.
No School – Tuesday, September 30
There will be no school on Tuesday as we recognize Truth and Reconciliation Day.
Terry Fox Walk – Friday, October 3
This week, students will be learning about the legacy of Terry Fox, his incredible contributions to cancer research, and the importance of exercise and movement for wellness. We will wrap up this celebration by participating in our own Birchmount Terry Fox Walk on Friday. If families would like to contribute, students can bring in a “Toonie for Terry” to support cancer research.
