Somehow, we have already reached the last week of October! Friday is shaping up to be a particularly busy day at Birchmount, with pizza, bus safety, costumes, and PJs all making an appearance. Here’s what families need to know.

Pizza Day is Friday!

Our Home and School Pizza Day Fundraiser takes place on Friday, October 30.

Pizza Days are a major fundraiser for our Home and School and help support the extras that make Birchmount such a great community. Funds help make events like our Fall Fair and Grade 8 Graduation and Celebration possible. Home and School has also contributed to our new school signand the new curtain in our freshly renovated gym.

If your child would like pizza, orders must be placed by noon on Wednesday, October 28 through SchoolCash Online.

Thank you for supporting Home and School. Every pizza ordered helps support our students and school community.

Bus Evacuation Drill

On Friday, we will complete one of our two mandatory Bus Evacuation Drills for the year. Students will learn about bus safety and practise how to safely exit a bus in the unlikely event of an emergency.

Halloween or PJ Day

Friday is also Halloween Day at Birchmount! Students who would like to participate are welcome to wear a costume to school.

A few important reminders:

• No masks, face coverings, or face paint.
• No imitation or toy weapons.
• No inflatable or overly large costumes.
• Students need to be able to sit comfortably, move safely, and complete their regular schoolwork.
• Costumes cannot interfere with student learning.

For students and families who do not recognize Halloween, or for anyone who would rather skip the costume, PJs are welcome instead.

We’re looking forward to a fun Friday while still keeping safety and learning at the centre of our day.

Have a wonderful week, Birchmount!
